HERE IS A SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW I DID RECENTLY, ENJOY A DISCOUNT OFFER AT THE END OF THE ARTICLE!

Been Begging for some Bumble Cakes?

Delicious, no?

I've got a new friend for everyone to meet today. Say hi to Tatum.
Tatum has so many different talents that you'll be extremely jealous! Everything from cutting hair, to sewing cute bags, to decorating gorgeous wedding cakes. She's dipped her toes in just about everything you can imagine and she's great at it all. All while being a terrific mom to her 2 sweet boys, and training for triathlons! Life hasn't always been easy for her, but she's taken on her problems head first and come out on top!

Currently she has a really great Etsy Shop, Bumblecakes,
that features some adorably cute treats anyone would love to have at their parties. She's set aside some time in her busy life to share some of her secrets with us.

Tell us a little about yourself?
Ok to tell you a little about me. I am from Spokane Washington, oldest of a blended family, grew up involved heavily in the arts….music, drama, art, design, etc...

i have two little boys who for the most part are the center of my world. i love kids and family. i love running and biking, and have completed my first two triathlons....and have always liked the outdoors. i am a hairstylist by trade, but currently own a wedding cake business. i design baby bedding and diaper bags on the side. i keep busy. i've played violin for 27 years, sing, and try to play guitar when no one is home to listen to me. i also love art, photography.

i also like really scary movies, but then tend to regret watching them because they keep my thoughts racing all night, and me obsessively checking the locks. =)

I love no name ethnic resturants and summer beach bonfires…..love it.Here is a general bio of me from my blog:
momma to 2//loves life//styles hair//addicted to shoes//loves to play violin & guitar//hearts running & triathlons//design and craft junkie//loves makin cake//lives for chocolate//into photography//loves learning//adventure seeker//addicted to movies & good music//into fashion, art, & culture//history buff//sings in the shower//loves traveling//adores precious moments
What made you get started with your etsy shop?
I started my etsy shop because I had so many requests from out people out of state if I shipped my products. So it’s a great place for me to provide that service and get more exposure on the art side of my cake…!
That is such an awesome thing, I hate it when I find something I want, but I don't live close enough to have it.
What kind of training, if any, did you get?
I never tell people this but I am self taught on everything, except hair which I obviously went to school for and violin which I took lesson for 10 years. So as far as cake I did the research and a whole lot of trial and error. I did however bake quite a bit before starting this full time and loved it!
What kind of products do you offer?
For Bumble Cakes one of my mottos is ‘if you can dream it, I can create it’ ! So I pretty much offer everything right now. I make wedding and specialty cakes on a regular basis and specialize in cupcakes, flavors and custom designs. I sell my designed tops on etsy as well as my cake/cupcake flavors in a product I name ‘Jar O Cake’, which is my latest product launched! I can make any kind of cookie or specialized sweet.
I can't wait to get my hands on one of those Jar O Cakes! There's nothing wrong with portable deliciousness that I can eat with a spoon . Do you have a favorite product?
My favorite product is the ‘Jar O Cake’! I love it! Probably just because it’s unique, no one else I know is making this and it gives a great shelf life to an amazing tasting treat that you can throw in your bag when your out to the movies, or just take a bit or two and stick it in the fridge til tomorrow in case your counting calories. I have about 30 current flavors and adding…. It comes with an attached spoon, a cute label, and a ribbon, it’s makes a great gift as well.
I'll take one in chocolate! What future plans do you have for your business?
I work with a wedding planner currently and have my products in some stores, and I’ve toyed around the idea of opening a store in the future. For now I am just happy to have my business where it is now and steadily growing. I’m open to all sorts of opportunities.
How do you fit everything into your busy schedule?
That is a good question! I don’t know is the answer. (grin) I used to have a successful hair business that I owned before I had kids and was a stay at home mom for several years so I originally started this business to give me more time with my young kids who were still at home, and didn’t expect things to get this busy. In all honesty, I make time for the things that are important and I am very organized, because I have to be. I schedule almost everything and never watch t.v., I just have had to cut out the non important things in my life, and when I need a break I usually take my kids on a run/bike ride outside or take a 20 minute bath to relax. I have learned to say no to the things I cannot do and have let the guilt I would normally feel go….families and moms are over scheduled and overworked these days, and one thing I’m working on in my life and home is to get back to the basics!
That's such a great way to handle things! I'm horribly unorganized, and sadly addicted to my TV so I would for sure fall short.
Anything extra you'd like to tell my readers?
Yes! When life throws you curve balls and things you didn’t expect don’t let it get to you. Just take a deep breath, take it one day at a time and see the opportunities in your path that can bring you happiness and success….even if it’s on the path you never expected to be on. That’s what happened to me, that is my story!
